AMAGAD!!!
Let the conspiracy theories begin!

(And I have to say - probably the worse case of self-ownage ever! And that coming from me says a lot ... )

Plus I am quite shocked it became a sticky.
Because I wanted to check if anything new was posted in the tread and I couldn't find it!
I already accepted the idea that the thread was deleted - and then I found it crawling around at the top of all the threads!
Way to go to kill a thread ...

Everyone, this should not read "GuildWarsGuru does not allow GW2 threads to be posted". I certainly don't see that statement anywhere so I'm not sure why some people have gone off on the tangent that we somehow are going to delete on sight these threads. This thread is merely a point that GW2 is still quite a bit away, and actually does answer one of the top questions of "when will GW2 be out/beta"? Perhaps if more people can see how far away this game is to being released they can realize that there just isn't much information to give right now. So any threads asking questions really can't be given an answer.

Most of the threads I've seen about GW2 are not useless speculation, but discussions of what people would like to have in the game based on GW or the very limited amount of information released about GW2. How will the game developers know how we, the fanbase and a good portion of the GW2 buyers, will accept an idea? And as a developer wouldn't you prefer to have that information without asking, and before you spent 4 months coding up and developing a very unpopular feature?

We need a GW2 forum here on Guru, that's the only way to unclog Riverside from 'pointless' GW2 speculation threads. We are here becuase we are all Guild Wars fans. Saying we cant discuss GW2 is like saying we can't discuss Warriors or skill balances.

Ummm, the OP on this thread states:

Quote:
Until further Official news or leaked screens, there is no point on speculating about GW2. It will be done when it's done. This goes for Beta & release.
That sounds a lot like "Don't start threads about GW2" to me.

"Stickying" this thread is thus a bit like announcing in a forum dedicated to U.S. politics that there is no point in speculating about the outcome of the upcoming presidential elections. In my opinion that kind of defeats part of the purpose of a forum, which is to discuss what is and -- yes -- speculate about what's coming next. Of course there is a point in speculating about the future: such discussions can be interesting, which explains in part why there have been so many of them.

If you want to sticky anything, I suggest dumping the original thread and creating a new sticky thread stating where what little official information there is about GW2 can be found (i.e., at Wiki), possibly adding a few links to existing GW2 speculation/discussion threads that have proved popular. You might also advise people to search through existing threads about GW2 before starting any new ones.

But whatever. That is just the sense I get from the OP. Stickying this makes it sound like the somewhat peevish position of the OP is the official position of Guru as well.

We all like assumptions. Stating something is speculation certainly doesn't go into the realm of "don't post". Sorry. And since I have clarified our position I don't think it warrants arguing about it. I read the thread obviously different from you, as did the moderator who stickied it. Stating that speculations are all any GW2 threads can be about doesn't mean there can be no discussion, as you pointed out. As everyone can see, from the amount of GW2 threads we have, I think that further reinforces that we do indeed allow and encourage discussion. Just that all it can be is speculation since there is so little information.

Just to help though, I did an edit of the OP's original statement and changed it to "Until further Official news or leaked screens, we can only speculate about GW2. This goes for Beta & release."

Granted I haven't clicked the link YET but I don't think there has been any screen shots as it's not at the stage yet correct?

Personally I wouldn't mind people speculating their heads off about GWII - as long as they don't do it where I have to trip in their useless threads.
As long as there's nothing solid to add to the discussion it all seems like a lot of +1's from people with too much time on their hands.

This sticky rules! And people should post their "do you think GWII will have this" or "what if GWII has that" threads in their heads.

When we start getting some material on the subject I for one will be in here reading every word twice, but until then hold your horses people.

Remember that 2009/2010 is just a guess and not an official statement made by the developers.

I'd say that it is a guess and probably a safety measure.

People would like them more if they planned for it later and released it earlier, rather than them having an early release date and not being able to make it on time/having a bad game from time cramps. People would probably be mad. This way they can always move it forward if they want.

Just what I think heh
